Originally, the Du Toit House had two levels that were not connected internally. The wine cellar and two downstairs bedrooms could only be accessed through an exterior staircase or through the garage. Thus, we are adding an elegant steel and timber staircase in the center of the house to connect the two levels and create circulation within the home for more comfortable and accessible use. The staircase additionally allows for a floor-to-ceiling double volume library. The property also has two exterior areas, where each level spills out into a garden and courtyard area. By adding decking with built in seating alongside a pond and planter boxes, both spaces are ultimately enhanced.
