This project involved the extensive renovation of a family home in Rondebosch. The clients did not feel that the flow of the house suited their way of living and socializing, and they felt that the house was also quite dark and closed off. We altered the flow of spaces by creating a very social kitchen that opens onto the living space as well as onto a timber outdoor space. We expanded the living space by extending out onto the existing verandah. We combined a modern black and white palette with soft timber tones and grey blues in order to achieve a light, open and airy house, designed for social engagements.
